Scottish Liberal Democrats candidate for Stirling
An overwhelming number of Stirling's constituents do not want hard boarders with either Europe or England. By remaining and reforming both in Europe and in the UK we can end the uncertainty, avoid damaging the economy and start to heal the divisions in the country.
The Liberal Democrats will Stop Brexit and invest the £50 billion Remain Bonus in public services and tackling inequality. This will include improvements in the benefits system and investment in clean transport. There will be extra money for schools, necessary because under the SNP, Scottish school budgets are under pressure.
As part of building a fair economy this additional finance would allow free childcare to be extended, helping to bring people into training and work. The additional resources could be used to restore some of the 140,000 college places lost under the SNP
We will tackle the Climate Emergency by generating 80% of UK electricity from renewables by 2030, and insulating all low-income homes by 2025 ending fuel poverty in Scottish households. An integrated public transport system will reduce carbon emissions. There is an immediate need to improve services to meet the needs of residents in the rural communities of Stirling, with disabled access on all services, integration with the rail network and practical links to NHS services throughout Forth Valley.
We are committed to transforming mental health by treating it with the same urgency as physical health. Our priority is investment in mental health staffing. They are needed in schools, GPs, A&E and police divisions. At the moment children can wait up to 2 years for treatment,
A vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for the United Kingdom and Europe. We stand for to freedom, equality, human rights, the rule of law, and reforming Europe and the UK. Brexit can't untangle 40 years of cooperation, imagine trying to cut through 300 years of integration in the UK. Only the Lib Dems will Stop Brexit and Build a Brighter Future.
