Iliyan Stefanov - Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for the Ochil and South Perthshire constituency - 08 June 2017

Iliyan Stefanov Scottish Liberal Democrat Candidate for Ochils and South Perthshire (Stirling and Clacks Scottish Liberal Democrats)Dr Iliyan Stefanov

"Iliyan made many friends in 2015 and impressed at hustings and on the doorsteps so we had no hesitation when he confirmed he could stand once more for Ochil and South Perthshire.

Iliyan was born in Bulgaria but has lived and worked in Scotland for decades. He is now head of Student Services at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. His background has given him the kind of wide experience that makes for a good MP.

As a young man Iliyan headed up local enterprises emerging from communism and was a local councillor. An economist by training, he has worked as a lecturer at a number of Universities.

Heading student support services at Queen Margaret University, he is very aware of the pressures and problems which can effect our young people. He is particularly concerned with the mental well being of young people and has been very involved in delivering suicide intervention (ASIST) and mental health first aid (SMHFA) courses to virtually thousands of students, university staff and members of community

Iliyan has for a long time made his family base in Dundee. Now at 56 he and his wife Penka are keen hill walkers. In addition to Ben Cleuch and Ben Ever, of the Ochil Hills which they climbed few years ago, they have 'bagged' 108 Munros and counting.

Iliyan believes that Lib Dem vote is a vote that helps us advance in business and the economy but also makes more sense in terms of the social health and education challenges we face."
